Flagstaff’s free throw contest for kids 8–13 is back. Free to enter, and it could lead all the way to the Hall of Fame.
25 Shots. One Shot at the Hall of Fame.
Every year, Flagstaff kids step up to the line, take 25 free throws, and see how far they can go. Last year, two of them brought home silver and bronze at District. This year, it could be yours.
The Elks Hoop Shoot is free, it’s fun, and it’s open to boys and girls ages 8–13. Snacks are on us. Spots are limited to 10 shooters per age group and division, so grab yours now.

How it works
Each shooter takes 25 free throws, and the most makes wins. Boys and girls compete separately in six divisions: ages 8–9, 10–11, and 12–13. Age group is based on age on April 1, 2027.
BORN BETWEEN
Ages 8–9: April 2, 2017 – April 1, 2019
Ages 10–11: April 2, 2015 – April 1, 2017
Ages 12–13: April 2, 2013 – April 1, 2015
THE BASICS
Warm up with up to 5 practice shots, then shoot 10 for score, then 15 more, for 25 in all.
Ages 8–9 shoot from 4 feet in front of the regulation free throw line.
Ages 10–13 shoot from the regulation line.
Each shot must go up within 10 seconds, and shooters stay behind the line until the ball hits the rim, backboard, or net.
Ties are broken with extra five-shot rounds.
Wear gym shoes. A t-shirt with pants or gym shorts is fine.
Shooters may enter only one Lodge contest.

The local Flagstaff Shoot is on Saturday, November 21, 2026.
Age Group Schedule:
8-9yrs BOYS & GIRLS • 8:15am Start until 9:30am
10-11yrs BOYS & GIRLS • 9:30am Start until 10:45am
12-13yrs BOYS & GIRLS • 10:45am Start until 12:00pm
District and State Shoots:
The 1st place winners will travel down to Camp Verde on Saturday January 9th, 2027, to take part in the North District Hoop Shoot at the Camp Verde Middle School and we hope that many Flagstaff representatives will win District and proceed to the State competition in Apache Junction.
